Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about ClipsX.

Is ClipsX really local-first?

Yes. ClipsX stores all clipboard data in a local SQLite database on your device. Semantic embeddings are computed locally. Nothing is sent to a server unless you explicitly connect a cloud AI provider.

Which platforms are supported?

macOS (12+), Windows 10 (64-bit), and Linux (Ubuntu 20.04+, Fedora 35+, AppImage). ARM and x64 are both supported on macOS.

How is semantic search different from regular search?

Full-text search matches keywords. Semantic search matches meaning. If you copied a Python snippet labeled "quick sort" and search for "sorting algorithm", semantic search will surface it. Regular search won't.

Does ClipsX capture passwords?

ClipsX respects password manager exclusions on macOS and has an optional blocklist for specific apps. By default it captures all clipboard changes.

Can I use ClipsX without a paid plan?

Yes. ClipsX Free includes the full local clipboard experience: history, search, semantic and image search, OCR, converters, snippets, and previews. Pro adds rich Office preservation, hosted AI actions, encrypted sync, and secure sharing.

What is the refund policy?

Annual plans have a 14-day refund window. Monthly plans cancel at end of period with no refund.
